Those are two very different engine generations and electronics.

What are you willing to lose and what are you willing to spend to make it work?

You could swap the complete 6.2 drivetrain into the 2006 truck along with the computer/fuse block and wiring harness but you will lose all dash function, abs, bcm control etc etc because the E38 computer does not work with anything in the 2006 truck. You'd also be required to run a 6.2 pedal assembly all that jazz too.

The other option is to alter the wiring harness to work with the newer sensors and such. The crank trigger is wrong for a P59 computer like the 2006 truck has. A machine shop can swap reluctor wheels on the crank and you can buy a new cam gear to change it from a 58/4X to the correct 24/1x. Or I think they make a converter box from lingenfelter which costs a few dollars.

Either way you look at it, it's not going to quick and it's not going to easy or fun.

Easier route would be a 6.0 from your model year. That is going to be a longer drawn out project than a typical swap.
