Default Trying to launch on drag radials

The drag radials have been on since Thursday. I've been trying to get them to hook up but it just isn't working out.

I had the camera at work today and tried to get a good launch on tape. This one is my third attempt, with a quick warmup and still no good:

I wanted to see some approximate times, even with the traction problem. (The original G-Tech Pro is notorius for clocking on the optimistic side, so this run was probably a 13.2 or so. G-Tech says 13.03 @ 108.6MPH.

Worked for me. I think you better get them hotter than that. Try spinning them thru 2nd gear before letting the brake off. Then try a launch!

please tell me you are not going by a g-tech. Isn't that what ricers go by take it to the track and get some real numbers out of the truck.

I really don't care what the track numbers are, this is not a contest, it's a 3-ton groccery-getter that happens to do fairly well for what it is.

What type of radials are you using? What is your air pressure in them? I have MT ET street's and they hook great! I run the air pressure to about 20 lbs. Put the trans in second gear ( trans guy told me never do a burnout in first always second and I have no Idea why) I usually burn it for a few seconds...I like to see the smoke roll up to the cab. Once I do that I am good. I rarely get bad wheelspin.

Thanks guys, the tires are M&H drag radials in 275/50R17. These work out to about 28" diameter. I was running 25 pounds in them, anything less looked like they were flat. (There's a lot of *** shifting around back there.)

They have a 325/45R17 that's the same diameter. That one says it's for 9-11" wheels. These wheels are only 8.5" wide and I would rather widen them than give up this style. The pair of wheels the DR's are on were factory blemished copies of the other four perfect ones with the street tires on them. The 325's won't look quite as stealth as the 275's, but those 325's might work on these wheels albeit with a little extra "sidewall bulge."

The launch posted was the third attempt just doing this over and over again. The tires were so sticky the little bits of gravel on the road were being flung up into the wheel wells. You're right though, they probably need less air pressure.

The other videos of the G-Tech runs were stupid so I took them off the original post. Holding the camera and doing a buck twenty at the same time doesn't make for a very steady shot.

from seeing others:

stand on it for 1-2 sec, then slap it into 2nd for at least 5 secs. Long enough to see steady pearl white smoke.
