Ds loop saved my *** like it was supposed to! It was 1/4" steel and didn't stand a chance, and scooter the tailhousing is cracked too, the slip yoke was still in the tranny after all the mess happened, and on the 126 mph I don't belive it's the first time but all the other times have been after the trap so I was out of the throttle, this time I was in it! Lol

Man, sorry to hear about your carnage!! Sux! I had the same thing happen last oct. Mine broke in the middle just like yours, sounded just like you said, and I was lucky nothing came thru at me. I had a "built" POS too. I will not buy from any place that doesnt do hot rods for a living. Dennys, Drive shaft shop, PST in FL, ect. I dont want that to happen again. Scarry stuff!! Be glad you had an iron block.

I assume it is DOM steel, what thickness? Had my drive shaft built for 1000hp as well...seeing that is a bit scary.

yeah i bet it would get somewhere thin lol. Wasnt that a brand new trans that got busted?

Sorry to hear about what happined. I had a guy install new u-joints in my 89 silvy one time. Stupid ****** left the lil keys off the u-joint when he installed the caps. After about a day of driving it had vibrated and broke the trans completely off the motor. Looked just like that trans of yours. Always a damn drive shaft! From that day on i have done all my mechanicing and never looked back. I know u will come back with somethin faster and better!

I'd have to disagree, You break u-joints on the launch, not going though the traps. That drive shaft failed in the center, most likely from not being perfectly strait or balanced.

What happens, is when they get so high in RPM, they start to get a harmonic to them and then start to "jump rope" and the tube fails in the middle like that. Then all hell breaks loose!! lol

The U-joint broke from being ripped out of the yoke.
