First...I am not trying to be an ***...but have you checked out the manual. It will usually at the very least get you in position to download the vid onto your computer. Here is your manual . Even better the instructions for the software that it came with.

The card is definitely for stills only. The usb cable is usually for downloading the stills. A firewire is awesome to use to get the vid...it will be the best quality video you can muster. IF your camera is firewire capable. You can also use a cable that looks like a headphone speaker jack that splits into rca jacks (video/left aufio/right audio). But you will need a converter to get the rca back to the computer...unless you have rca "in" jacks on your computer. That jack on your camcorder is usually beside the power/charge jack. Mine is a sony, so i don't know about yours specifically. Best thing...take your camcorder to an electronic shop and say....help.

I dont use the mini dv style, mine is a sony hi 8 but it should be similar. I lost my cd that was sent with the camera a while back so i just went to sony.com and downloaded the correct driver(which you already have). The i went to the menu on my camera and set it to USB streaming mode. Then i plugged it up to my computer using the correct usb connecting device from the camera to the laptop, and then i just used windows movie maker.
