Default 2012 colorado 5.3....?

I would like to upgrade the cam in my truck so it has the power a v8 truck deserves. It also needs to be able to pass emissions here in AZ. It is a 4x4 crewcab with stock size tires for now. I have modified the stock airbox and put on a large diameter single exhaust. I will also be installing headers and plan on a blackbear tune in May when they come to Phoenix.

Id go with a old man cam... comp cams has truck cams take a look at these two. 54-450-11 or 54-452-11. or if you want to go with a little more aggresive look at the 54-412-11. i think either of those would work well with your setup with a stock converter and a tune. you would also want to upgrade valve springs as well

In AZ it's just a quick OBDII check a well tuned vehicle will never fail even with no cats. I would suggest a 212/218 or 216/220 cam. Great power proven to work well without the aid of a stall.

5.3= 191/190 .457/.466 114 lsa
You can also easily get a custom speced cam from a number of sources who can set you up with the perfect cam for your goals and build.

i agree with what gamble686 said... ive called comp cams a few times and talked to different people each time and each person specd out a different cam for my setup.... i have been searching for the "right" cam for about a month now and finally decided on one. call different sources and get cams specd out and take your time.

Okay I have started an email conversation with Trevor at Texas Speed. I want to make sure about VVT and AFM. I know the Colorado has VVT but I am not sure about AFM. Anyone know for sure whether or not this truck has it?

VVT is a cool feature! Adjust the valve timing so you can have power up top, and down low, Id keep that. AFM....get rid of it.
