definitley like your way of thinkin tx lol, actully just checked tire pressure and they were at 15. im sure between that and the lack of back pressure from the straight pipe its probably hurting mpgs quite a bit

I'm sure you could score a catback from a junk yard on the cheap.

im thinkin either getting a catback from the junkyard or just buyin a cheap thrush turbo or something quiet lol. and bowtie im jealous man, definitley a clean s dime! ill post some pictures of mine even though its nothing pretty lol. figured id slam it next year and throw some graphite c5zo6 wheels on it. as for beating the hell out of em how do they take it? ive kindve been beating the hell out of mine lol. every time i bang a gear you feel the driveline shock through everything, definitley a bit nerveracking lol

also mines got 119k on it, oil pressure when warm sits at about 20 and at WOT its like 45. anything to worry about or is it normal on these?

I would still pick up a header, at some point.

I've never seen one 2.2-equipped S10, other than brand new, that had a fully intact downpipe. I tried finding one for my brothers 97, but it was well over $150 and the local exhaust shop didn't want to try and bend one up (useless).

From what I read, the header makes a big difference...If you are willing to believe Minitruckin', they installed an Al's Headers brand header on a 2.2 S10 and this is the dyno results:

Dyno Sheet
Stock 2.2L Four-Cylinder Engine
RPM POWER TORQUE
2,500 44.4 93.2
3,000 51.3 89.8
3,500 61.4 92.1
4,000 71.8 94.3
4,500 81.4 95.0
5,000 84.0 88.2
5,500 81.9 78.2

2.2L Four-Cylinder Engine With
Header Installed
RPM POWER TORQUE
2,500 52.0 109.3
3,000 67.0 117.4
3,500 76.7 115.1
4,000 84.8 111.4
4,500 94.0 109.7
5,000 96.6 101.5
5,500 94.6 90.3
The Al's Headers brand header was a nicer piece than your run of the mill eBay special (OBX) the % difference would not be noticeable on such a low-powered 4-cylinder.

I wouldn't do it for the MPG increase (even though respectable people have seen 1-2MPG increases across the board), but more for all around power gained to make the lil' truck more fun to drive.

wow, i didnt realize the 2.2 only made 84 hp...that's crank power? cant believe these frames are holding up to power 10+ stronger than what they were built for.

They made anywhere from 120-130HP in crank HP from the factory. Which isn't bad for a relatively tiny 4-cylinder, but not enough to enjoy the truck.
