Spray some Kroil penetrating lubricant in there a few times and let it soak a day or two. Probably have to order it online, but much better than PB Blaster at breaking loose frozen bolts. Vice grip the ones you can get to, drill out the others like said above.

Whatever you do, just take your time. Don't be hasty with it at all.

Can't he just drill out the bolt hole and heli-coil it?

That'll work too...I'd try drilling the bolt out and saving the threads first, but if that fails a heli-coil will work just fine

When I disassembeld mine there was a ex manifold broke off in the head. The very back one on # 7.

It was broke from the factory. The manifold had never had the bolt head contact the surface.

Never had an exhaust leak from it though. 165K miles.

The machine shop is drilling it out right now. Hope its ready soon. Getting itchy fingers and I want my truck back.

It probably broke after some time of heating and cooling, expanding and contracting, etc. Real common on the GENIII engines. Everybody that I know with a 99+ Chevy truck, who kept the factory manifolds, ends up with a broken bolt or two, and it's usually the rears that go first Lucky for me, I swapped my manifolds out for some headers early on

if your not familiar with doing it and your buddy can do it....smart move......ive done it at the shop i work at but its always on the bench.... 1/8 drill bit and an easy out after sprayed with the magical kroil oil(best stuff ever made for that) and a propane torch the expand the head just a tick and they come right out. by the way if you want a machiinist that is/has produce some serious horse power check out www.timzeppengines.com he definately can make em run. and that aint no b.s.
