Whats the difference. Im looking for 400+ horses. I want an ls2 but in the meantime I was wondering potential of the 6.0 truck motor. These truck motors or much more affordable

I know truck motor is cast iron vs ls2 aluminum

 

Truck 6.0 is iron block, GENIII engine. LS2 is aluminum block, 4th gen series. LS2 is higher compression. GENIII motors have rear cam sensors and the knock sensors are in the valley cover. LS2s have the cam sensor in the timing cover and have knock sensors on the side of the block IIRC. Some of the LS2s have a different reluctor wheel on the crank. I can't remember the tooth count off-hand. LS2 has 243 heads, truck motor has 317 heads.

Both have equal potential for making power. It all depends on how they are set up.

 

24x reluctor is gen 3
58x reluctor is gen 4

05-06 GTO only has 58x reluctor. I am not sure about the TBSS.

tbss 06 only has 24
05 vette (not sure other years) has 24

 

where did u get your motor ? how much ? miles ?

 

TBSS has the 58x i am almost positive as well as the 05 vette
