Default What heads for my 402

10 to compression 402 will be ready next week and I am undecided on if I should run the stock 317 heads or wait a few weeks and buy some new ported heads. The cam I will be running is a comp 228 230 with .572 lift on a 112 lsa with the truck intake. Since I am not runnig a crazy cam or really high lift do I need ported heads or will this setup make some good power with a live nelson tune. Can the stock 317's take me to 400 rwhp on motor? I will also be running a big shot of nitrous but not that often since I want my level 4 tranny to last. Any suggestions?

10:1CR at what size CC combustion chamber? You can hit 400rwhp on stock casting heads, but personally I would run some Patriot LS6 heads to bump the CR up to 11:1 and more flow, or give Richard at West Coast Cylinder Head, he is a great guy and has some good stuff at damn good prices. He is making me a nice set of Stage 2 317 heads that ought to flow pretty good

heads were milled .048 to give me a 64cc chamber. Current pistons are 16cc dished because I was planning on using a 59cc ls6 head but I got jacked.

Hey 1Slow,
Why stage 2? Why not bigger? Are they for your 418?

I would say just run it with the stock heads for now. The less money you put into it, the more you will be happy with it's results. It also leaves room for future mods.

WHat do you mean why not bigger? It comes with pretty decent sized valves and there isnt a need for huge valves when you have turbo forcing the air in.

Do you have to get a specific intake manifold made for the L92 heads? Or will a stock intake fit those heads?
I was under the impression you had to get a "L92 intake".
