Default want better heads

I have a 97 sbc350 silverado. It has longtube headers, cai, bigger wires, hotter spark plugs, e-fans. It has the stock vortec heads. I am looking for a better set of heads to put on it. I called a guy in texas and he said that he has a pair of vortec dart heads with all the work done to them. He said with just them I can get 100hp. Not to sure about that. He says he has all the other heads like the bowtie heads camel hump heads etc. What heads would be worth it to go with on my truck. The motor is stock and would it do anything to the efi on my truck.

for the money ur gonna spend, i would think for 800 you can a used 5.3 which will be better and offer more potential. u can sell that 350 and stuff u got offset. maybe a bit of a hassle but better in the long run and you wont regret it.....just my two cents.....

what is your hp goal ??? rebuilt your stock heads machine the valvle guides better springs and a cam swap will support 400 hp . problem is no matter what heads you put on it you will run out of fuel at 400-420 hp with the fuel injection . if your heads are in good shape use ls6 beehives with comp 787 retainers find a nice cam i plan on a lt4 hot cam . this will give a solid 380-400 hp under 6k rpm

You will max out your fuel injectors by the time you max out your stock heads. Vortecs are good to around 400hp. You just need to modify the valve guides for different springs to allow for a higher lift camshaft. Or you can use 918 style springs with the special Comp retainers. 0411 pcm swap, multec II injector spider, bigger cam, stall, and tune would all be better mods for the money than buying new heads....unless you're afraid to modify them for more lift, then aftermarket would make sense because theyre usually set up for more lift already. Just be careful to watch the intake runner size. stock are 170. Many aftermarket are 180-200. Without a stall you'd likely lose low end grunt going to bigger runners with your current mods.

LOL 100 HP increase , and camel hump vortec heads !

Whats that guy smokin?

Vortec Heads are some of the best flowing SBC heads out there! Specially for bieng a stock head.

You are definitley going to want to swap intake manifolds/injection setup before you start changing heads.

I don't care what heads you buy, you probably won't see more than 20hp over the vortecs with the original cam. Sounds like you got some serious dough burnin a hole in your pocket. The heads you have are exceptional. I would spend a few dollars getting them to handle some lift, rather than wasting money on aftermarket castings.

Yeah, the vortec heads are great flowing stock heads. The camel back (hump) heads never flowed as much as the vortec. If you don't want to spend much, and aren't real concerned about power, just rework what you have. If you are more concerned about power, get a 6.0.

is your truck tuned ? also some colder plugs might be better off then you can get more agressive with your tune . what kind of converter do you have if it is stock getting a looser one will maximize what you already have .
