Default Valve spring questions

well i feel like learning something today so i thought why not learn about valvesprings. my question is how do you know which valve spring to use i guess. i was looking at the comp 915 and the 918 springs

915- seat load=105@1.800
open load=293@1.200
spring rate=313lbs
918- seat load=130@1.800
open load=333@1.150
spring rate=313lbs

so how does seat load and open load effect the spring and also why is the open load on the 915 rated at 1.200 and the 918 is rated at 1.150? im sure ill come up with more questions later but this will do for now.thanks in advance

Cause the 918 will not hit coil bind as soon. It just depends on what cam you want to run. I would pick the 918 for anything that is more wild then a stock LS6 cam. 220 or more duration @.050 or more then .550 lift.

so how does open and seat load correspond with the spring? is that the force that it takes to push the spring down and the force for it to i guess you can call it rebound
