I talked to TSP on the phone before I ordered mine and they recommended a 3000-3200 stall for a 5.3l. Percision, Yank, and Circle D all come to mind when I think about converters and you honestly couldn't go wrong with any of them. Do your research before you buy because some brands are loser than others. I think it was Justin at Blackbear that told me his Percision 2800 was more like a 3200 in his SS.

alright i will look into it. One of our dealerships has some great deals going on right now so i might swing in there this weekend and talk about a 6.2...... but im up in the air about it since i like my truck as it is. i dont want to start over but i think the 6.2 would be a better platform to start on and go back to 0 miles

A converter like a Circle D 3C would be good and help it a lot.

But if it doesnt feel any faster than it did before your tune needs work or something else is wrong.

I had a 222/224 in a 5.3 with a stock converter and it was a dog down low but around 3500 it came in hard. From a roll it would kill a stock truck.

hmm i am having justin from black bear doing the tuning for me. i dont know what else to say other than i am not 100% happy with it because it doesnt feel different at all. Any suggestions what i should ask him about what he did or should do to get the most out of my current set up until i can afford the rest?

I know Blackbear is a reputable tuner and all, but it seems like he's been having to do tunes over and over lately to get them straight. Maybe I'm getting the wrong vibe, but that doesn't even seem right. As for you not being satisfied, you probably won't until you get a stall. Some things just need supporting mods to work like they should. When a cam is of a certain size, it becomes one of those things.

hmmm the first tune Justin sent me for that cam w/ the stock stall was defiantly faster than before the mods were done (from a roll). Had it running pretty good after about two more retunes.

I have the tsp220 also. It ran fine with the stock converter in my RCSB, but does have some dead spots obviously. Doesn't do the best from a dig, but at 20-35mph if I stomp the gas, it will throw you back in your seat and hooks great. Also does very well at 65-75mph up top if I floor it around that speed. Every vehicle is different though, depending on different factors.

What did you expect it to feel like a 100 shot of spray? A cam moves your powerband more then anything. What you gain up top you lose down low. Take it out and wind it up, what are your shift points set at? A cam should be your last mod not your first...

Circle D Specialties High Performance Torque Converter 278mm for GM Truck 4L60 LS

As for headers, Pacesetter is an inexpensive option. Kooks & Dynatech make great products as well.

You lack supporting mods to make the cam really perform to its full potential.

Headers, Gears, Converter, Re-tune... Should make you very happy.
