Default TR220 with LS6 Springs?

Would LS6 springs work with a TR220 camshaft (.220/.220 .551/.551 112lsa) in a 6.0? I believe that the LS6 springs are good to .550 lift, and the TR220 is just at .551, but I wonder if the fast ramp rate of that cam would have any affect? I know that most people will recommend the Comp 918's, but I already have LS6's that I'd like to use if it's possible. Thanks!

Nevermind, did some searching in the Internal Section at LS1Tech...doesn't seem like a good idea, guess the Comp 918's are the way to go. Here's the results of my search if anyone's interested:

and here's some really good cam/spring info:

i would go with the 918's. i have that cam and it has an very fast ramp rate. also the cam pulls past 6500. in D, mine shifts out of first at 6300 and second at 6200. at the track i manually shift it around 6600 to 6700.

Thanks man...that thing really revs! I assume that the powerband should come down a few hundred RPM's in a 6.0. Does the 3K stall seem to be a nice match with it?

yes, the stall is set up perfect with it. just a lil too much on the street though b/c it smokes tires, lol. on the hwy doing 55mph i down shift it into 2nd when the tach hits 4500 it's like instant boost. the cam really turn ons. that cam should do you good with that 6.0. especially since your's is a 4x4. and i don't think you will loose any bottom end also. good luck on your project, it's going to be a monster...

Thanks man...just gotta figure out this cam thing, I keep changing my mind As of right now I'm convinced that the TR220 is what I want, but I'll wake up tomorrow with 20 reasons why I want something a little smaller, or torquier, or less maintenance...

Some of the stuff I read in my ls1tech search mentioned that the LS6 springs don't have enough seat pressure for a cam that aggressive

The LS6 springs are "advertised" to that lift, but if you look at LPE's gt2-3 cam, which has like .570/.580 lift, they sell a kit with that cam and ls6 springs. Supposively they tested them and they are good to ~.600 lift. I would get the 918s anyway though for the extra insurance, and if you ever wanna swap to a different cam you'll already have decent springs.

Yea, that's pretty much the way I've started thinking with this
