Thrust bearing toast??

Damn that sucks to see. It must move a pretty good amount to hit the main cap like that. Any idea what clearances the machine shop build the shortblock to?

Not sure but if it can be fixed im getting a spec sheet of the tolerances

When you unbolted the converter, did it slide back from the flexplate?

it should have a little - my 370ci did they same thing-toasted thrust bearing caused by the converter balloon. I had no play from flex plate to converter to trans - NONE. every converter will balloon some; how much is the question. My problem was I had the older style crank with a 4L60 which isn't suppose to work, but I got it all to fit but very very tight. I was on a three hour cruise with the timing all went to **** b/c I had too much end play in the crank from toasting the thrust bearing; Motor is getting overhauled now and a new 5.3/6L crank installed with the shorter .50" end for the 4l60.

^ You bolted up the longer crank to a 60e??
