Well still haven't had the time to get a checker but I now think I'm going to. Last time I checked the wipe pattern was probably when the lifters wernt primed...long story short just pulled the rockers to check preload to see what's going on. Wipe pattern is almost centered but Is more towards the intake manifold rather than headers. If I ran the shims for the YT there would be barely any pre load. From the sounds of it you'd think these pushrods are too short as well then correct? At 3k it's like having your ear right next to a sewing machine and at idle is noticeable

I almost forgot to add before the head swap the truck idled at 40lbs hot of oil pressure and near 70@wot. As of now I do not know the pressure at WOT but at idle it's 2psi lower than before

2psi is nothing. Its summer. Youll see a slight drop. Measure the pushrods and get back. Check the inside of the valve covers to see if the rockers are making contact. I had to grind out the baffles and grind some clearance into the cover.

Did that noise seem normal to you though? The pre load is 30-35 thou and as for clearance somehow they're not hitting the valve covers. I'll be ordering a pushrod checker tomorrow and will go from there

Well did some research trying to figure out more info while I'm waiting on the checker I found a post on ls1tech saying to calculate preload by eo/ic vs how yt says to check on both valves closed in this case my preload comes out to a quarter turn...If this is the correct way I see a major problem also who makes longer than 7.5 pushrods if I do end up needing longer

So both valves in shut position is more accurate then...apparently preload should be correct but something still seems off also yt says if there's more than 1 turn to not use shims yet my wipe pattern isn't where I'd like it to be.

Dont bother with that turn method crap. Buy the length checker and use it. With the valve closed.
