Default Stripped exhaust manifold bolt hole

My truck started ticking again due to the manifold warping away from the head and its because the hole is now stripped apparently from with a cross threaded it. I used a thread chaser to fix the threads but it wasnt strong enough i guess. I know helicoils are supposed to bet the strongest fix but in a standard kit the helicoil is only 12 mm long and the bolts are longer than that. Is that still the best fix? Or would I be better going up a size to a m10 I wonder. Any input is appreciated thanks

And I didnt know which section would best fit this so mods move if im wrong

The strength of threads only goes to the width of the bolt threading into it.
Any more os just extra that provides no more shear strength.

Use your 12mm helicoil with no worries.

A helicoil is a ss wire inserted into an aluminum head. It is actually much stronger then the factory threaded hole. You will twist off a bolt before you pull out a properly installed helicoil in an aluminum head.

You can buy longer lengths of helicoils you know...

The ones they sell in stores are usually most common for average repairs.

Or re tap it and put a stud in it with quick steel. Works pretty good.

Why would self respecting motor head ever "quick steel" a stud into a engine anywhere!?

There is a term for that nonsense and its not compliant.

Because racecar, duh.

Thinking outside the box has worked many times, doesnt matter if it's right or wrong.
