Default Roots E85 TBI build

this can be moved to forced induction section... oops.

Hey guys,

I've got a build that I'm getting ready and would like to run past the collective conciousness

Truck: '94 suburban K1500
Engine : 350 TBI
Trans: 4 sp auto

The truck is stock as it sits. Like most of you, I can't leave anything well enough alone. Unlike most of you, I have a 142 ci roots blower laying on the shelf in the garage (off my '87 sub -sold).

I'd like to bolt this blower to my '94 but I have a few oddball ideas. I think I'll have to change to a V-belt setup and get a carb to TBI adapter flange - no big deal.

I also plan on running this truck on E85 exclusively. I think I can get away with this by using a TBI off a big block truck and an external regulator. I aslo plan on using an FMU and booster pump. I think I can get away with a lot of boost on E85 and don't plan on swapping the cam (yet) or turning high RPM.

Questions:

What ratio FMU should I start with?

How much fuel pressure can TBI injectors handle?

Does anyone see anything I've missed?

Will I be able to tune close with fuel pressure and manual timing adjustments?

thanks guys, Nick

Ok, as some one with a bit of booseted TBI experience, I suggest you talk to Bob at Dynamicefi.com for your engine management. The TBI systems are not very friendly when it comes to tuning, I had ok luck with an FMU and a chip on stock parts, and with a cam/heads I've had zero luck until I started running Bob's modified ECU.

However, If you're interested, I can make you a deal on the FMU/chip that came with my TBI supercharger kit from Holley.

The injectors will work with up to 40psi, but not with the stock fuel pump. A Walbro 255lph pump can be had cheap though.

I have no idea how it'll run on E85 though.

thanks for the help, I checked out Dynamicefi.com just now and it looks like a pretty sweet setup and reasonably priced!

Please Email me a price you'd like to get for the Holley FMU aslo.

Priegnitz.nicholas@mayo.edu

thanks, Nick
