Amazon Basics 5W-40 Euro-spec synthetic most of the time but had Mobil1 5W-30 in it both times it let loose.

Is there a new Amazon oil that i should know about? I run Mobil 1 10w30 here in the south on everything I own, but it's getting harder and harder to find the standard labeled green capped bottles at walmart anymore. Everything I find now is "high mileage" "oil leak stopping" "racing" "advanced fuel economy" "ultra all round" "20K miles performance" "annual protection"

Just give me the OG bottle of ******* 10w30 with no BS marketing **** that has always worked 100% of the time!

Yeah there are some Amazon Basics oil that are normally a bit cheaper

I think this time round I’ll run Castrol. It seems to be $4-$5 cheaper for 5 quarts.

Try ZR1 Racing oil. Already has zinc in it. I run 5W40 in my stroker all year long. Best oil for performance engines with bigger cams.

Never had a problem with Johnsons not pumping up.

Thought y’all might appreciate seeing a video of the difference between the lifter trays that I received from Vinci and a GM factory lifter tray. This is conclusive evidence to me as to why my lifters, and ultimately my cam swaps failed, twice. Conclusion: use new GM trays only.

Exactly why they failed!!! No matter how old the GM lifter trays are even when used, they should never rotate. If they do, they are JUNK!!!

out of curiosity, why did you decide to go aftermarket for the lifter trays on such an inexpensive part?

Fair question. Mainly because I trusted the seller. Roger Vinci is a pretty well-known name in valvetrain engineering, so if he told me they’re good trays, I was prepared to take him at his word. And, he claims that they’re genuine GM trays, but clearly they’re not. :-(
