Rebuild question
#1
So me and and friend went and picked up a motor for a lil project we been working on. Its a 91 scsb bagged truck. It has a weak natural light built 350(natrual light built= buy a buddy a 12 pack and he put it together). The truck is not dependable and not only that it has a turbo 400 trans(3 forward speeds) and a 4.11 gear.
We decided to pick up a 5.3 and 4l60 for this truck. That would solve the dependability issue as well as pick up a few ponies to play with. The whole thing was a complete pull out of a truck that a guy swapped his body to a 4wd frame that was newer. We went and got the motor without ever hearing it run.
Bad news, we pulled the heads and 5 of the cylinders have water in them. So we started tearing down the motor and decided to rebuild it. The block can be honed and fixed very easy and the pistons are still good. So we are gonna put a set of main bearings, rings, arp head bolts and the other items that we need to make it stock.
Now onto the question, will a ls1 cam out of a camaro benifit this motor in any way or is it just not worth the effort or time putting it into the motor since it is already torn down this far? Money is a large issue as we bought the motor thinking it was ready to drop in.
Any opinions??????

Don't really get what that means but anyway... while it is apart it would definitely be a good idea to, at the very least, put in an LS1 or even the early LS6 cam. Looking at what nonnieselman posted, you want to try and find a '00 Corvette cam first, then look for a '01 up LS1/LQ4/9 cam.
