race built 5.3???
been looking around a bit and notice that most people had the DD 5.3l build. im looking to build up one with a max of 383cid for a project but would be for street racing no towing or daily driving, still able to drive to the track and back home, a street motor. any one got somthing along the lines? it will be going in a 88 mustang. big cam, good heads, good flowing exhaust.... anyone got somthing around about this? im looking for ideas on intakes cams heads etc..

I'm planning on going H/C on my 5.3, with some ET performance heads, and then a bigger converter. I'm looking for mid-high 12s. I'm shooting to be about almost as quick as TXsilverado, but he has a 5.7.
And it will still be my daily driver.

You might want to PM PappyDan about doing this. In https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...d.php?t=410300 thread, he mentioned this option.

346ci is the largest you're going to be able to go with a 5.3 block. if you want a 383ci go with an ls1/ls6 aluminum block. the aluminum ls1/ls6 block will save some weight and they make 383 kits all over the place..

You could do a 383 with a 4.000 stroke and 3.90 bore.

You can bore the 5.3l block to 3.90" and add a 4.0" stroke crank which will give you a 383. With a pair of 243 heads on top this will make an awesome combination for a truck.
Good luck,
Richard

A friend of mine has a foxbody with a turbo 5.3, nothing special just a standard inch block with a mild cam, some porting, turbo and a tune and he is pulling 11.2's not completely tuned. (good for low 10's according to mph) and he's driven long trips on a th400 trans with decent mileage. maybe try a boosted setup verse more cubes?

Intake: Fast90/Victor JR/Super Victor if it fits under your hood
Heads: WCCH Edelbrock 245
Cam: 24x/24x .600"
Shot size: Size accordingly if you need more
Cubes: 364" ls2 block with 24x 3.62" crank, 4" Wiseco flat pistons
11.5:1
Should be good for 500 rwhp N/A if that meets your goal.
