Well, a 383 is a very good option to make out of a 5.3.
it is about as far as you can go with out having the block cylinders completely
Bored out and replaced for a larger bore.
their are several kits, pistons range from 3,893 to 3,905, to many types of pistons
to list, I'll just say if you want a 10.50 or a 8.9 on compression, you tell them on witch LS based head your going to use and they have the right piston to give you what you want.
Also be sure to tell them what year this is for, so they can install the right reluctor wheel on the crank.

no offense taken.. that's what the forums are for, "bro." it would be more informative to say how it's actually obtained though. i thought you would sacrifice tensile strength trying to squeeze more out of an iron block 5.3..

please explain.

Larger crank. 346 is the most with a stock crank, but you can get more cubes if you get a larger crank.

the 5.3 can be safely bored to a 346 ci then you can add a 4" crank to that and have a 383 stroker motor just like the storker kits for the ls1.......so basically you have an ironblock ls1 which should hold up pretty well to spray as i think we discussed in a thread awhile back....

Should be good for 500 rwhp N/A if that meets your goal.
Thanks for the reply as for this is what i was mostly looking for, something to base a good night of research. as far as the block goes i would like to keep the original 5.3 but intake and heads do sound like a pretty good idea. as for the ls2 i only have 2 arms and 2 legs and would like to keep them for the price of those blocks. i app the input. also was going to ask with the larger stroke and 4" pistons would these motors like the higher revs? its quite a bit more moving mass than stock, so would it still be able to rev high enough through the power band with these h\c\i to still perform well at WOT up high.
