Default quick question about lobe seperation angle (lsa)

How much of a difference in idle, power, and where the power is located between a cam with 112lsa and one with 114lsa

I found a few engine dyno graphs that might help you out. Keep in mind, the engine dyno takes even more variables out of the equation than a chassis dyno, so these are very connsistant readings. Here's one I like that shows the slight difference in duration from 220º to 224º to 228º and where they each peaked on 112LSA and the difference in power.

And here's one I found of our 224 cams vs our competitor's. The slight difference in lift/ramp rate really does make a nice difference!

Really, there's not a major difference in PEAK power RPM one to the other on LSA...maybe 50rpm or so on average. Chosing the better lobes really makes alot more difference under the curve and at peak than anything!

so assuming Im reading this correctly it appears there isnt a huge difference, 114lsa ssems to make its power a little lower in the rpm range. Hows idle quality between the 2? big difference in lope?

Once the cam is in the truck, why does it seem like the tighter lsa has MORE low end and mid range than the wider lsa cam? I've seen it proven over and over again on the dyno that the wider lsa makes more in the lower rpm's but it just feels different once its in the truck... Or is it just me...?

Actually, the wider LSA will have just a little more peak power and will bring in power and peak power slightly later. The lope at idle is slightly more aggressive with a tighter LSA (due to more overlap), but that really is VERY overstated on internet forums. I've heard two cars with the same cam, just different LSA's, side by side and could not tell which ahs the 112 and which had the 114. It is a VERY slight difference there!

I will play the "internet overstater!"
I just switched from a 114 to a 112 lsa with a tad more lift and my idle is very different. The 112 is pretty lopey and without a good tune it set codes.
The 114 idled very close to stock. I have also had a 109 which was ridiculous and my truck barley idled at 800 rpm. I found the 112 really wanted a higher stall. I would think about if you want to have to do a good tune and if you willing to go with a higher stall converter. i love my 112, but it need some extra mods to really work good. My change in lift move my power up in the rpm more. Go low lift if you want bottom end.

my .02.

3000 stall should be enough in a 6.0 with something between a 224/224 114lsa and 228/228 114 lsa? Im quite certain it would be, just want to make sure

That is incorrect and over-generalized for sure! Take a look at the top graph I posted. The 228R vs the "TSP228"....same LSA and ICL, just different lobes...the "TSP228" has more lift and made much better power in the lower end and some more power at top too. Also the TR224 vs 224R (same LSA and ICL again)....same story, the more aggressive lobe with more lift made better power everywhere!

Agreed. More aggressive lobes definitely don't hurt bottom-end LOL.

I think I've seen you drive by in Moncton the other day.Seen you had the 6.0L logo's allready on the truck.
Drop that thing in there allready.....lol....
As for the question, that cam in your sign will make it rumble for sure.It would be easier to tune with the 114 than a 112,I think anyway.......
Don't forget the injectors too, you'll need some bigger ones with that setup for sure.
