Default Pushrod length checking. I've never done this before and I am overwhelmed by myself

I've never attempted and internal engine mods myself and I'm overwhelmed with it.
I have got to get this done this week, and I'm doing the project by myself.

Cam and heads on an 04 silverado with the 5.3
243 heads milled .030 and a comp 214/222 .560 .569 111 cam.

I have no idea what size pushrods to use and after reading until my brain is fried I'm no more understanding about the process than when I started.

My truck has to be smogged and ca registered in a few weeks, I have to remove my long tubes, and solve the p0300 code that came on yesterday. I don't want to do work twice, so while in the process I'm going to do my cam/head swap.

Someone please help!

Also, does anyone think my truck will pass smog with that cam and heads in California?

Get one of these: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/cca-7702-1/overview/

Adjust it until you take up all the slack in the rocker without opening the valve or compressing the lifter.

Here are some posts I found useful.

Edit- I also used this for the head/cam swap on my 5.3, but looked up a few things elsewhere along the way (e.g. Rocker torque sequence, intake torque sequence, etc.) Also read a post that somewhat discredited the site so do some research first. I'm sure others will chime in if this is way off.
