Default Project 404 Stroker

Ok, here is my list i have so far of what i am going to do and think i need, what do you guys think? Any suggestions?

Things that are for sure.
- 404cid Forged Rotating Assembely
- Livernois Motor Sports Stage-3 Heads w/valve train
- Livernois Motor Sports Custom Cam
- Comp Lifters and hardened Push Rods
- Reuse 5.3L Intake Manifold (due to Drive by wire and cost)
- ASP Under Drive Pulleys
- Flex-A-Lite Monster 5,500cfm E-Fans

Things to do just for the hell of it, feel free to advise other things as well.
- Replace Timing Chain (Stock or something better????)
- Replace Water Pump (maybe an electric one?)
- Upgraded Altenator (I have lots of toys to power)

Thats all i can think of at the moment...

Get an LS2 timing chain. You can use the same gears you have now and just upgrade the chain. The chain by itself is only about $35. I have a New Era double roller, but only because it was cheap and I wanted to be able to play with the cam timing.

I doubt an electric waterpump would be worth the trouble. And I'm not sure how long they last.

While the motor is being built I would upgrade the oilpump just to be safe. I ported and shimmied mine, but only because I'm cheap and didn't want to spend any more money.

I would also get some ARP bolts for at least the heads, and maybe the mains. Your rotating assembly should already have the rod bolts though.

Since you are under boost, get ARP head studs rather than bolts IMO. Also maike sure you are getting upgraded fasteners in the short block.

Take some of that extra money and do an intake manifold. You'll get some extra power out of it, AND you'll have the peace of mind that in the middle of a run, #7 won't lean out and break a piston.

Can you pull the heads with the motor in the truck with studs? That is the only reason I went with bolts, I thought there wasn't enough room to pull the heads high enough to get them off of the studs.

Great info guys! Any part numbers for this upgraded oil pump?

I don't like the idea of the studs if i can't get the heads off in the truck... I am only planning a max of 15lbs of boost, i am not looking to be the baddest guy on the road, just want to have fun... I also plan on a boost control so i can drive at like 10lbs for daily driving and kick to 15lbs for the occasional Mustang...

As for the intake, i am guessing you mean the F.A.S.T. one? Will i have clearence issues on the belts and accessories? If so, what has to be done to make room?

Oh i noticed that my 6.0 i got has oil cooler lines on it and they mount to where i get my oil pick for my turbo on my 5.3 (secondary oil filter fitting)... Can i omit the oil cooler lines or would that be a bad idea or even possible? my truck does not have an oil cooler (that i know of) in the radiator (i did not get the towing package). I could relocate the oil pick up to the pressure sensor like Livernois does normaly since i kept the parts to do it, then hook up an after market oil cooler...???

Both look good to me. That's a pretty good price for the pump too.

I don't think the chain is worth that though. There is a New Era chain on ebay for $109.
