What about windage induced by the oil squiters?

Or is enough durability gained to offset windage losses?

I used to add windage trays to my sbc's religously to get the free hp.

If your pistons are really made of raisins as you stated above, you really need the squirterers. How often do you need to refill them?

On a more serious note, you probably will need a higher volume oil pump than stock, like a Melling. Send Jason Harding at Katech an e-mail and see what galley modifications need to be done and what pump they recommend. Some of the heavy breathing Corvette LS3s have had the squirter mod done.

I was wondering why you would call somebody that works at Wiseco, but that makes sense. Some pistons built for engines with squirters have a notch in the skirt otherwise the piston and the squirter might try to occupy the same place at the same time.

this would be a good idea for my tt lsx. just need to make sure they will work with that block . any contact info for the guy a katech?

We were cautious to recommend this at first, but recent testing has shown that the LS7 pump can keep up just fine. The piston squirters have a check valve in them to turn them off at low rpm.

The LS7 pump is a for a dry sump setup, as is the LS9. Have you guys tested the on the regular crank driven style pumps (LS6, melling HV, etc.)? Switching to a dry sump to run these would be a PITA IMO.

Besides you only need one for cyliner #7.

LS7 and LS9 are gerotor pumps driven off the front of the crank just like every other LS engine. We have not tested the piston squirters with any wet sump oil pumps.
