patriot or edlebrock? for 5.3
#1
i talked to the guy from WCCH about their 5.3 edlebrock 200cc heads, and the numbers are pretty impressive, but the price is a little steep. also i was looking at the patriot stage III heads, which are a lot cheaper, but the flow numbers look a little better. has anyone had any experience with either of these heads on a 5.3? im not ready to buy any yet, just trying to get a head start on my research. anything would be helpful at this point.

The Edlebrock's from WCCH are some of the best heads I have seen for a 5.3L yet. Richard has spent more time and energy working on a "truck" specific head than any head porting service out there. If you are trying to make up your mind, let me help you...... WCCH hands down for quality and service.

Thanks for your support Brian.
We published our flow data on a 3.780" diameter test bore. I'm not sure what valve size the Stage 3's have but if they're over 2.02" I don't believe they'll fit on a 5.3l bore. Sure they'll flow better, but if the test was performed on a larger test bore it's like comparing apples to oranges. Double check the test bore flow data and the valve sizes. This is not a bash on Patriot's products. I will never engage in that type of behavior. I'm only trying to make a legitimate comparison of head flow through the same size test bores. As Brian mentioned above, our 200cc Edelbrock program has excellent flow throughout the lift range. And as an added bonus, the combustion chambers will closely fit the 5.3l bore like no other head. You can actually use the stock diameter 5.3l head gasket with our head. Just one of the many features we built into this head.
Our advertised price is for an assembled pair of heads with dual springs and titanium retainers. We can substitiute a beehive single spring and you'll save an additional $75.00. That would put the total cost at $2075.00 for a complete pair.
Thank you for posting this question.

I just got a pair of Patriot Performance heads for my truck w/a 5.3. The heads are stage II, 2.02" intake 1.57 Exhaust 61cc Combustion Chamber. Assembled w/Stainless Steel Valves,Dual Valve Springs, Titanium Keepers
for $1195.00. I asked for the stage three heads and the salesperson (Gunnar Bowlin) said they were too big for a 5.3
