It's not that N2O cams require wide LSAs... A wide LSA is a by-product of the longer exhaust duration needed to fully empty the cylinder, while maintaining the same or similar amount of overlap.
This will make it easier to understand.
Lets pretend like this would be a perfect all motor camshaft:
226/226 on a 112LSA
It has 2* of overlap
Now, you'll be spraying a 300 shot so, were going to add a good bit to the exhaust lobe... Remember, overlap is combination of the LSA and the amount of duration... Never one by itself.
So, if we add more exhaust duration for the N2O, the overlap is going to increase.... but, we don't want it to. So then, what do we do!!? Widen the LSA.

It has 2* of overlap
But truthfully, you need to think about if you are making a nitrous dedicated motor or not. If your still going to be doing all-motor sprints, why sacrifice your all motor performance and streetability for that occasional hit of N2O.... Think about this... If you go faster all-motor, you need less nitrous to accomplish the same ET. Also, if you want a quicker ET, how hard is it to put a larger jet in? Plus, there are ways to get more 'power' from an all-motor cam while spraying. OPEN UP THE EXHAUST.

if you are going to spray all day and night everytime you race get a split duration but if you street alot and just have the occasional shot of nos then go for a 224/224 and spray the biggest shot that you would want...
