New timing chain loose-why???
#1
Hey guys,
I just installed the new LS2 timing chain as instructed by peeps on here. I noticed the cheain is much stronger looking then the original that it replaced. My problem now is why in the heck is it so damn loose. It's worse than the original that had 186,000 miles on it. The engine is stock completely, never touched before this. It is a 99 5.3, it also had 3 exhaust bolts sheared of in the heads from being over tightened from the factory. Now that's a bunch of BS! I didn't plan on replacing the gears since they are hardened but I have a top gear from my TA that only has 56,000 miles on it. I'm going to install it tommorow and see if it helps but I wanted to see if anyone on here might have any ideas.

Gear wear is a possibility but I never thought this much. I will try the old one from the TA. If that doesn't do it does anyone know what the part numbers are for just the gears? Thanks for the reply's guys.
