Well, I figured since the trans is out I might as well do some other stuff that needed done to the lq4. Installed a new cam some ls9 gaskets and got my heads cleaned up. New valve springs old ones have a lot of miles on them now. The stock head bolts weren't torque so I was pushing water. Throwing in some studs while I'm in there. While doing all this I took a pic inside the cam hole to see what rods I had. I'm super happy in what I found. This is a late model 04 2500 motor.

Ok pics from phone = pita. I'll put some more up in a min.

Heads are on and torqued down to 78lbft. Arp says 80 eBay studs said 75 so I went in the middle. All torqued well even though I was shitting bricks while doing it. It's amazing how many turns you can get from 38 to 78 lbft. Getting those damn bolt holes cleaned out was a nightmare. I used a long skinny vacuum hose and 80psi to blow them out.

What's to worry about? ARP studs in an iron block.
I had a nice little trick for cleaning out the bolt holes. I bought a $20 wet vac from Walmart and then sprayed each bolt hole with brake cleaner and then vac'd it out with the wet vac until they were clean. Then just dried them out with compressed air.

Let's see, turbo mani is on, water pump is on with belts, steam vent pipe for the heads is installed and oil sender for turbo is bolted up. Finally after like 6 years decided to extend the heater hoses to go along the fire wall/fender away from the turbo. Now if the trans would show up I could fix the cross over pipe. Still need all the fluids and run the new trans cooler lines too.
I'm going to be running brake line for the wastegate, I'm tired of burnt vacuum lines.
