First off forgive me I cant speel fer ****.
What do yall think about replacing standard bearings in the motor, ie: cam, rod, main... ect. with needle bearings obviously there would be lots of custom maching and it would be pricy if you couldnt do it yourself, but regardless... Any thoughts?

I have started to do some research on this, and have contacted several suppliers about trying to get the bearings, and to find out if this idea has already been tried. It seems that with the needle bearings there will be much less heat and friction and the only drag on the motor will be the piston rings, and maybe the wrist pins. Have any of yall heard about this? I got the idea from a “story” about a guy in Anchorage who modded his slant 6 dodge dart and killed damn near every thing he went up against.

there was a discussion like this on tech but i could not find it to link you to it. basicaly you would have to have a crany that was in many pieces and was pressed together. also it you realy think about it there realy would not be ledd pressure. the bearings in your motor now are flat and have a film of oil that the other parts IE: crank and cam just float on. i dont remember all of the discussion but someone did say that they use this in street bike cranks?
o and something about a 2 stroke has to use them because the oil is mixed and the bearrings do not have a guaranteed supply of oil.

I asked my dad this a few years ago. He said that the needle bearing would wear out extremely fast because the actualy surface area that is in contact would be significantly reduced. The bearings motors use are made to spread the force out and float like Sleeper said.
