Default NEED A cam for 4.88 gears with 3700 stall

Ok, Its not like I need low end, I have a 4.88, 3700 stalls, and 4l80e behind a LQ9 6.0. My truck is heavy, a Tahoe.

What cam do I need to regain my top end?? I know with the 4.88s it will comprimise some of my top end, but I want to replace my top end power with something alot stronger, mid-top, So If needed, I can still haul out on top side with 4.88s.

Any recomendations are welcome, and please I need opinion, not " ", "" or any other recomendations.

I think like a 230/234 or 232/234 would be bad *** ,, i have 4.11s and on my 228/232 i think my top end is wicked IMO ...you have more gear there for would take more cam

well said

Im thinking of a 232/234 range too

Keep the opinions coming. the 4.88s with 3700 stall clearly speak for themself.

Go big or go home... 236/238 or something up around 236. Rule of thumb is youll always wish you kicked it up a digit or two

Will a stock lq9 be able to take a cam that size without clearance problems? And what type of rpm may I spin or set rev limiters?

232/238/621/621/113+1 I ran this cam in my stock lq9 lots of top end but I ran it in a rcsb which is lighter with a 4k triple disc. 4:88 would be fine with a 32 size tire. Now if you're going to race it at the track run a 28 slick and hope it plants lol. Your stall will determine how quick you'll get into the power band. If you want topend base it around primary header size collector size pipe size and how much the intake flows

Thanks skeet. Well so far a 232/238 sounds like it's on my Xmas list. It's going to be something in that range for sure.

Stock heads? If so I would stay under .550 lift. The 317 heads lose flow after that.

thanks for that catch, yes, the stock heads more than likely, not trying to throw alot of money or switch intakes etc. So Ill do more research and prob get it grinded with a a tad less lift, or better intake or something.

If I do put heads, it would be 243s to up the compression, or l92s with new intake. maybe possible.

brake stalled the converter yesterday @ 3950 RPMs.. I prob still get a cam that specs, cause inevitably, Ill switch to some ported 243s or something, and then mill them a tad.
