Default Need all input on the 6.2 liter.

I have a rare opportunity that could fall in to place or not at all.

i have a very good chance of getting a 2007 6.2 liter from a hummer with 5000 miles or less.

what would i need to make that 07 6.2 liter work in place of my
00 4.8 liter in my truck.

All right guys, pick your brains, what do I need to make it work?

It probably has DOD, if it does you will need to swap to normal lifters, and you will have to extend your cam and knock sensor harnesses since the knock sensors are on the side of the block and the cam sensor is on the front cover. Other then that you should be good to go. So figure an extra 350 on top of the cost of the motor for new head bolts, gaskets and lifters.

6.2L doesn't have DOD, just the 5.3/6.0's w/4psd....the fuel economy comes from the 6spd on the L92/6L80 engine/tranny combo...

i have been asking questions.
from what i understand this is what is in the hummer,

http://www.gmperformanceparts.com/En...1224&engCat=ls

according to gm, it is running the hot cam by gm 525/525 lift on a 219/228.
what would be a good replacement cam to up the horse power more.

I believe that the crank sensor uses a different signal as well, a 58x instead of the 24x on your 4.8 and that would be the biggest problem I see to overcome.
BTW are you sure its an 07 hummer??because GM doesn't show to offer the 6.2 in 07, but they do on the 08 H2's...just a FYI.

from what i got to see, the hummer is about 3 to 3 1/2 months old.
it was a fully loaded package with all options.
they put about 5000 miles on it and wrecked it.
insurance has totaled the hummer and i'm trying to get the motor from
them before it is hauled off for scrap.

well i knew the crank trigger had changed in 04 of 05 models.
read up on it and found out the cam trigger is changed to, not just moved from
back to front and different then early models.

so will have to get the PCM and harness too just to be able to start it.

forgot to add, yes it is an 07 and yes it is a 6.2 liter.
found out from relatives of the owner they paid for all options
that were offered, even the performance package upgrade.

Pretty cool deal! If it has the 6L80E transmission, then it's a 2008.
Just try to get everything you can, even the transfer case (you could always sell it later)

it is 6L80e with transfer case for 4 wheel drive.
still wondering how to make it work in my truck.
i really don't want to pull it and my only option is to sell it.
hell with the right cam and some good tuning this 6.2 can make
well over 500 hp and 500 tq NA.
add a little shot of nos or go full turbo and i will love my truck even more.

dan... you will require the tcm, pcm, tac module, the harness if you can get it for the chassis, the trans, and the engine

then from there we should be able to help with the rest...

if i remember correctly the hummer is a full time awd vehicle.... so thats your future..

nonw as for every single piece you will need there is no way to know for sure off hand without looking at the 2 side by side... but if you can at the very least get those components i listed you will have one helluva good start

and yes those engines can run alot of power n/a but there is not alot available for them yet either... the research and development is still being performed... id say if you can get it, do so.... as long as its a decent deal
