GM performance says this is a drop in cam with no mods required but tuning recomended (no stall, no facny BS, maybe some Z06 springs)
Hot cam specs:218/227 int/exh @ 0.05" duration
0.525" / 0.525" int/exh lift
112 LSA

So why would one step up be so drasticly wrong for a 5.3, and if i wanted all my power in the bottom end i would buy a big block not a ls small block so im not looking for these cams in the 800-4500 rpm range. The pic show my 35x12.50x22 tires and 22x11 wheels but i recently sold them and removed my 4in of lift. I am now running a 305/50/18 on alum. wheels.

If you knew anything you'd know that the GM hot cam is a piece of ****. But don't listen to what we have to say, none of us have any experience with cammed trucks.

I reallize that hot cam is a piece thats why im looking for a better solution and the one mentioned earlier was a custom grind from the guy who grinds the bullet cams... he said i could choose i diff lsa to meet my satisfaction. so would a higher lsa make that cam any better?.... 00chevyscott i like the sound of yours what kind of specs and numbers are you running?

A split duration cam will make more tq under the curve, vs a single pattern cam in most case, as it keeps the exhaust side open longer.. Bottom line your truck is big and heavy.. A cam that is donkey dick is going to need a huge converter to get the truck moving, to keep the shift points high to stay in the power band.. a 218-220 cam with a 3k verter will be a nice wake up call with you truck, or step up to a 220-224 cam and add a little more converter.. all in the sake that your truck is heavy.. If ti were a reg cab truck, you had less weight to tote around then a bigger cam would not be as much of a issue..

Look at what trucks there in and what converters they are using, some of them even had advance ground into them..

A lot of those guys have a lot lighter trucks than yours, they're proficient with tuning and can tune themselves, they have better supporting mods, and smaller tires.
