My understanding is that it was ok to use factory gaskets on a .020 over engine.

If not you would have to look to Cometic to get different thickness and bore size's

Otherwise maybe a 6.2L gasket? I think the nominal bore size is .065 over a factory 6.0 bore.

Time to pinch it .010 with some forged pistons and rods and toss a 350 shot at it...its the only solution

really, i'm thinking fix the lifter, put it back together with the pistons I have, use a smaller head gasket for a bit better compression and drive it. then put a new build on a stand for down the road. I can't see putting too much into this motor. I really don't like the grove I feel towards the bottom of that cylinder. pulling it out for a full build right now is not an option either.

any objections?

i'm a "do it right the first time" guy so you won't like my answer lol. my opinion is also harsher because now days I have a fleet of vehicles in the driveway to choose from. I used to race the daily driver and know the feeling of MUST get it back on the road by Monday. and the money/time issues...been there done it.

honestly, you've worked harder to pull the heads with the motor in the truck, and drop a piston with the block in there....4 bolts and a rented picker has that engine on a stand. a chain hoist from Harbor freight or northern tool is around $30. strap it to a rafter or a big tree branch and grab that engine out and get a real look at it. I've pulled an engine with a come along tool before. people will loan you engine stands to get them out of their way lol. have a machine shop punch that hole .010 and give you their opinion on if the block should be worked with. if they decide it's junk from 1 hole, you're not out much money. my bet is that it's fine.

i would love to do it that way, but i have xmas recovery right now and no family support for that and space. my hoa really doesn't like seeing a truck with motor pulled in drive way. my garage is packed with my 82 swb with its motor on the engine stand now and im putting way too many miles on my vette with my 100mile commute.

im getting tired of the 82 taking up space so i was thinking get it back running and sell it off to fund an engine build for this truck. but only time will tell if i can get myself to let that truck go.

slap it together with new lifters and drive it. i would even re-use the head gaskets you pulled off of the engine since it's a temporary fix if you havent already tossed them just lay a good layer of copper cote on it. any parts house will have it.
