I am getting ready to do the cam swap I have a GT2-5 a 220/220 .563/.563 but I know this has been talked about but with varing results.
Should I mill and do a mild clean up on my stock heads. This comes down to a few hunderd dollars. The milling and port work will be pretty cheap but then I will need head gaskets and bolts and...
I will be pulling the motor because of some other things I need to take care of
I know there are gains but to what degree.
This is a 5.3 and my baseline dyno numbers were 282 RWHP and 304 RWTQ so they were pretty good for stock (tuned) Since these are kindof on the high end for stock I didnt know if my gains would be minimal...
Just trying to get my options lined up.
Thanks
Dave

What do you want out of your truck?? do you want it to just be quicker or daily drivable, or what?? Heads are a PITB and I only did mine again because I went with some really good heads. I did the milled stock heads, and P&P'd them myself before and couldn't tell any difference.

Joshaua thanks I know you got some tremendous gains with your swap, I dont have the cash to do that right now so I thought this might be an alternative, but like I anticipated it does not seem like there is much to gain. To do it right I would end up with larger valves and a better port job but then I have spent some cash.
Maybe others will chime in.
As far as what I want...this is not my DD being in my 68, but I do and will drive it quite a bit, just always looking for more power...
