what is the max bore on the gen 3 4.8 5.3 block?


Getting some info. Going to pull motor out soon and do a build.

 

3.900 or 91mm (i think)
correct me if i'm wrong

 

LS1 Bore so like 3.9xxx

 

I Think It Can Be Bored Out To 99mm(3.893IN) Stock Is 96mm Rite?

 

stock = 96mm
346 = 99mm

And you can still do .030, .040, or even .060 overbores from there, sonic check willing of course.

 

The max bore for both motors is 3.99 in.

 

not to jack the thread but is it cheaper to get a 6.0 and do a swap or bore the 4.8/5.3

 

it depends.......

figure out what a 6.0L will cost you and call a machine shop get a labor price for boring. Can you build your own motor? Afterward you'll want new heads, you'll need the LS1 rotating assembly, etc. so figure that in to your price
