ls6 oil pump on a 01 lq4?

Default ls6 oil pump on a 01 lq4?

would a ls6 oil pump work for a 2001 lq4?

is it a good or bad idea to run it? friend has one sitting around and i want to replace mine when i do the heads and cam swap

It's not a bad idea... but I dont think you need to change it. If its a lower mile unit thats in better shape than go for it.

its a new pump just sitting there, is it a drop in or does some thing need to be done to make it work?

since the only difference in the lq9 & lq4 are dish pistons from what that said it will drop in!

It will bolt right up, just make sure you have to correct o-ring for the pick up tube or your oil pressure will be low

If the pump is new it should probably have one with it, I think there are 3 different ones/colors, but I would call some of the sponsor or TSP and get conformation from and expert, last thing you want to do is put everything together and have the wrong oring in.

Are you taking the motor out to do the swap? If not you will have to drop the oil pan to get to the pick up tube bolt, some people loosen all the bolts and drop the front a inch or so, I prefer to just remove the whole thing.

I had a difficult time getting the crank sprocket off the crank shaft with a 3 jaw puller, so I cleaned all the oil with carb cleaner, and heated it up with a blow torch to soften it then it came off pretty easy.
