Default LS6 or LQ9? Why not the Vette block?

Can someone tell me why nobody seems all that intersted in working with the Vette blocks for our trucks and instead recommends the Iron blocks? Seems to me that the LS6 guys are generating 750+rwhp with no issues. Is there something about putting them into a truck that makes them suffer some types of probs? R/

I guess they dont have the displacement you can get with a 6.0 or a 408. I figure, if you are going through the trouble to yank a motor, you might as well go all out. On the other hand, the price is a bit different too. You can get a 6.0 for 1500 bucks but then again if you want an LS6 you are dropping at least 2 grand. If it were me, i would just go with a built up lq9, good set of heads, cam and be done with it.

An ls6 is a 5.7 and has a "max" of 383 without sleeving it AFAIK.

stock it is 346 (ls6) vs. 364 (6.0) I guess it is easy to get the two bassackwards....

And with the cast iron 6.0 block, you dont need to sleeve it....just bore it out (to some degree...)

I'm thinkin that there's a lot more LS6 based 402 motors being built than LQ9 based ones...so...maybe the reliability and wider range of experience might be the better way to go. Sleeved or not they're apperently reliable and have decent lifetimes. An extra grand or 2 will be worth it if the hassel factor et al requires fewer return visits and problems...R/

The ls1/ls6 aluminum block shouldnt be bored out to 4", at that point it needs to be sleeved. Like turbobeserker said 383 is the "max" you can take the aluminum block without sleeving.
