glad I found this thread cuz I'm looking swap in a ls6 cam into my 5.3L. I was under the impression that I would see increased low end torq, which is definitely what I need in my CC Z71 on 20's with 37's. Any 1st hand knowledge of the power gains, whether they're low end torq or high rmp hp, would be appreciated. thanks

Hmm, cool thread.

Was reccomended to go with the LS6 cam also because it works great for N/A as well as boost.

Right now i'll be N/A for a bit till i get a front mount turbo.

So im guessing this cam will do the trick?

Also the Z06 cam to get is the 2002-2004 grind?

from every search the ls6 cam has a loss down low compared to stock. all gains seem above 4k... we need some graphs showing this... I dont think this is the cam for you. For low end id say something like xr259hr or so...

Im searching for a sleeper cam for a buddie and what i find is that it does better than stock in the higher rpms and is great with boost. I think the 02 plus cam has the better specs. I read somewhere that the 01 is actually a 204/211 instead of the gm advertised of 207/217. I think it holds true only because the 02+ zo6 makes 20 more hp. If im wrong hopefully someone corrects me.

From reading a lot of LS6 cam swap threads, I have yet to see many people who have actually done it, and reported back what they found. There's a lot of buying and selling of cams, but not many install stories.

The biggest general complaint seems to be the fact that it shifts the power band upward significantly. In those same threads there were many claiming that GM ground 2* retard into the >= '02 cams in comparison with < '01.
With that in mind, has anyone tried installing 4* advanced to shift the torque curve down a little? Could someone a little further in the know hypothesize on it's effects?

Sorry for getting off topic as well!
Comp cams have been outsourcing a lot of components lately. The beehives WERE Pacs a couple years ago, but now they make their own somewhere (mexico, ive heard). NO savings where worked down to the buyer, nor any knowledge of it. Wonder why their springs are breaking more than the pac 1218s?

And as for the lq cam, its a typo, its the same cam as the f-body cam, no crazy split there.

same goes for the 98-00 ls1 cam, which aparently is more like 198/209 on a 119.5, and the 01 ls6 cam, as LTX355 stated, is a 204/211, lobe sep dont remember.
