Question ls2 cam switch

can you install ls2 cam in 2004 5.3l pickup, including ls2 springs, ret. and push rods.

Springs, retainers, and pushrods - yes. Cam - no.

Is it because of the change in the position of the cam position sensor to the front of the motor from the rear?..

Yep that is why. Gen III cams can be used in Gen IV engines, but not vice versa.
