I dropped a Comp 918 on the floor once and it split in half Play the numbers, Comp 918's have a higher failure rate, and I know a professional engine builder who has told me personally that Comp constantly changes spring suppliers searching for the lowest bidder...they put all of their money into marketing. But hey, go ahead and run the Comps, haven't seen any good valvetrain carnage lately

As for the dual springs, yes you don't see many of them break, but the threads that you see with flattened cam lobes and failed lifters are usually dual springs. Dual springs have a **** ton of seat pressure and that puts a lot of stress on the rest of the valvetrain....something that many folks overlook. Personally I'd like to run the Crane duals with my future setup (which will have about .590 lift), I'm just concerned about blowing out lifters mainly...

BTW, if you have a free flowing exhaust and/or a cutout, I'd probably go with the 224r for the extra lift and more agressive lobe than the XE option. The XER lobes are proven performers. If your exhaust isn't that great, might want to consider a little more exhaust duration to help evacuate the cylinders better.
