Default LQ4 Cam Choice Help??

Hey guys, i am currently building an 07' LQ4 (78K miles) for my SWB.

I have LS7 lifters/ LS2 Chain going in.
New oil pump.
TBSS intake that will be installed
Stock 317 heads. But will be replaced with 243's an or Patriot Heads as funding allows.
Will either use PRC single Springs or the dual .650 ones /Pushrods
I will be using a CircleD 3200 converter
4:10 gears/locker
I would like to stay between 6500-7000k (MAX) RPMS shifts.

I would like the Cam idle to have a nice chop to it.

Ballpark cams i am thinking of:: all around 112 or lower lsa
226-230 .58x ???
230-234 .6?? .6??
232-236 .??? .???

Again those are just Ball-Park specs i have been seeing others using and was thinking about.I dont really understaind cam selections like i would want to, with so many different cams with great results.

If my cam specs are not good let me know! And Reccomed others!!
I really Appreicate the help from you guys!!

Yes i have read his thread on the streetsweeper ht cam. Wonder if a 3200 stall would be enough?

227/235 .614/.621 113LSA (in the ballpark of your choices above)
54-458-11 - LSR

219/227 .607/.614 112LSA (My recommendation)
54-456-11 - LSR
Ive run this cam in MANY engines, picked up 46hp in a stock(ish) 5.3L. A variaton of it is even in my little red S-10.

Im running the 227/235. Its a great cam. Really need some better flowing heads to take full advantage of it though. Power really comes on at about 3800. Shifting at 6600.

i say try the streetsweeper cam... im 1slowz71s cousin and ive seen that truck run yea the 3200 was enough when he had it but its even better on the yank pt3200 he has since its looser... low end is great but top end pulls r even better.. to take of full advantage u would b better off with a lil more converter 3400-3600 but even on his old circle d 3200 it did great.. just remember always go one bigger than what u want if not ull find urself pulling it out over and over like me haha...

Yup, thats why I like the cam I think would work. E.specially in a big truck, you dont want to over cam because you ned to keep the torque. Ive run that cam in 5.3Ls, 5.7Ls, 6.0Ls, and 6.2Ls

@sweets10 i like both of your recomended cams although i think the smaller one is a bit to small for my 6.0 project. I have been talking to a member about this cam:> 226/230 .598/.600 112 +4
he pulled it from his LQ9. Let me know what you guys think?

keep in mind i am going to use a 3200 CircleD, my reasonings? dont want to spend 600+ for a higher stall converter..

Thanks for the replys guys! Much appreciated!!

That cam will work fine as well. I ran the smaller cam in my 6.0L with Lingenfelter CNC LS3 heads and its a great cam. But the 226/230 will work great as well.

That converter is pretty lame for any of those cams. You might as well go big so if you ever do upgrade the converter, you won't be wishing it had a bigger cam.
