Default Looking for the "labrat" data! without spending hours of research myself!

So, I've got like 6 motors.... I have a repair shop........

I wanna build a decent rod motor, Carb Motor for older c10 or maybe even early 90s.. so here's what I got..

2008 6.0 Iron Block 2500HD
2005 5.3 Aluminum Avalanche
2004 6.0 Iron Block 3500HD
2008 5.3 Silverado D.O.D
2004 5.3 Iron Block Silverado
2007 GMC C6500 8.1

3 or so years back, Purchased 224 Thunder Racing Cam, Springs, P-Rods, Lifters, etc.... After realizing I had the D.O.D "M" motor, I tabled it....

I would like to buy a gasket kit, oil pump, Intake, MSD Box, and I have a Barry Grant 750.. too much? Other than that, Really dont wanna spend any other money..... What are your thoughts?....

I know you dont have the exact RPO codes for the motors stated above, but are any of those heads, better than the others, that are interchangeable.... any worth to mixing any of the parts above? or just pick one and build....

gut tells me to with the all aluminum 5.3.......???? just wondering if possibly one of the other engines had a better head?... or am I missing anything else? or should i junk the 224 and go with the ls7?... will the 224 even work with carb motor?

My gut tells you to give me the aluminum 5.3.

Dont use the 8.1 save it for a dually or dump truck

Default 5.3 Alum

the 5.3 Alum, especially if it has 243/799 heads.
it's the best of the bunch. don't know about the cam, carbs ok
