Default Lifter retainer trays

I was reading book i'd picked up a few months ago. (How to build high-performance chevy ls1/ls6 V-8s. I was reading where the cut 1/2" hole in the lifter trays. Has any body done this mod to the lifter trays???

Yea, me and a buddy did it to his SSS when he threw on some L92s. Me and him both have the same book that you have.

I have the same book, but they kinda skim over the modification a little quickly...do the holes go on one side of the tray, and which way do they face? I plan to do this when I put my LQ9 together...

Looks like you would only need them on the low side since they are installed at an angle.

Looks like you need a mullet to work on cylinder heads. Wouldn't you be embarassed to have your picture taken with hair/hygene like that? Why is it all these car engine books always have a sterotypical redneck working on stuff? Where's the Lynrd Skynerd (sp?) CD? Does it come with the book too?
