help build 4.8 to run 12s
Alright my buddy has a 2001 scsb stepside silverado and we wanna build this thing to run 12s. We won't to know all the info we can get about which heads and cam combo will work best with a 3600 stall and he still wonts it to be streetable. We won't it to be NA also. He doing all other bolt ons including headers, gears, and built tranny. What will it take to run 12s!

He wants the 4.8L to be NA and run 12's?? best bet is pull it out and put it in a smart car. hahaha the 4.8s are decent motors but idk how you can get it to run 12's without a stupid amount of weight reduction and/or some spray or boost... goodluck

205 afr's 59cc chambers.
nice custom cam in the high 220's low 230's.
4000-4500 stall
4.30 gears
28" sticky tire
long tubes
nice air intake+exhaust.
tuning
Is this streetable that's matter of opinion.I thinks so.
Oh without a doubt this will put you at better than 12.9

If youre running off a 3600 stall speed a cam like BlackGMC recommended would be best. The larger cams recommended are going to kill the already dismal lack of low end TQ the 4.8 has. High compression ratio, good tq cam, and the regular bolt ons will get you there.
