Alright so if I tighten the rocker down and then adjust the checker to 0 lash. Take that measurement and say I want .070 preload, add .070 to the checker and if the valve still opens, that's ok?
They guy I bought them from said they were new Comp oe lifters.

No, the valve can't be opened at all. Do you still have the valley cover on? I think you are pushing the cup down in the lifter, and not knowing it. It doesn't take much pressure at all to push it down when there isn't oil in it. I was actually thinking of doing a write up for this stuff.

With the rocker tight, at 0 lash (no up and down movement but side to side and pushrod can spin) the checker comes out at 7.317. Since I had a 7.35 pushrod that gives me .033 preload correct? With a 7.35 pushrod my valve opens with the lifter on the back side of the cam.

That's what I'm wanting know that the valve should not be opening at all. Intake and valley cover are still on.

I've put about 3k on these. The cups can move in. Like I said before adjusting the pushrod length checker to were I can get over .020 preload in them the valve will open. Yes I'm turning the motor over by hand..

My checker lenth was wrong on mine.. it was suppost to be 6.125 iirc and it measured 6.138.. So I went off the measure ment I got.. But I just measured to what I believe zero lash is and ordered my pushrods or the closest one.. I should have .075 preload but I have ls7 lifters.. I hop I did mine right.. It runs fine and not too noisey so I guess its good.. Can't really hear anything over the damn double springs haha. It was a pita.. I did it like 4 or 5 times just to make sure I got the same lenth everytime
