heres the run down...
89 K5 about 5000 lbs, 4x4 with a tired TBI 350
i have a 2000 5.3 with 170k miles that is in dire need of a rebuild. so its getting the following
bored with stock LS1 pistons
edelbrock vic jr intake with edelbrock 600 carb with ign box.
supporting mods, (headers, 3 inch exhaust with H-pipe dumped, good oil pump etc...)
stock 5.3 heads with LS1 valves
going in front of a 700R4
what i need is cam suggestions.
i want everything down low, as low as possible. idealy, id like peak tq at around 3500 RPM. keeping stock 6000 RPM redline. i was thinking of hitting up PatG for a custom cam, but if i can find an off the shelf cam that will suit my needs, ill start there.
of course ill be getting new lifters, and pushrods, but its going to be a daily driver, and i cant afford to put 400 bucks worth of valve springs on the 370 in the Camaro and the Blazer every 35k miles. i want a cam that will give good lope, and not eat valvesprings. if i can get 100k miles out of it, i will be happy. the truck already has 200k miles on it, but the trans and rear end has been rebuilt. i dont want millions of hp, but if i could get 350 ftlbs at 3500 RPM, i would be happy.

pretty damn good as well!!

i can do the 918's. thats fine. but i already have to change the PRC Xtreme duals on the camaro every 20k or so because of the cam thats in it. i just dont want to do it to both vehicles.

I was told by the cam manufacturers, that the 220 or 224 cams are fairly reliable and not crazy aggressive. I would go with a 114 degree lobe separation so It's more streetable as a daily driver, plus it'll idle better in traffic.
From what I've read on here, many are happy with the 220 cam in the 5.3.

well, its going to be a 5.7 when im done with it, that being said, im not sure if your talking about the TR224 or similar that is made for cars. i really want something that is going to shine down low and still have decent mid range and high end power. i dont plan on revving it past stock rev limit (6200), and its going to be a mud truck on the weekends and occasionaly maybe tow the car to the track and back. so its gotta be able to tow 5000lbs reliably.
