intake valves (paper) thin from factory?

The valves are already on the head along with the valve springs and such.

I think he may have cut them too far. I got a set of 862s worked on at a local machine shop. 5 angle valve job and they were able to do a 2 angle back cut on the stock 2" ls1 valves that they installed.
