I bring up the asa cam beceause i've always heard it was more of an rpm cam (I realize that there are much more aggressive cams, it was just an example). I suppose if I were doing any type of forced induction the vic jr would be my first choice if not my only. I'm wondering if the loses on the bottom end with the vic are substantial enough to warrant not using it in an n/a set up especially with a truck. Granted most guys that would consider any type of set up like this wouldn't be running a stock stall more like 3000+. Now the vic doesn't sound to bad because you're starting off higher than it's low power area.

For those who are interested in the subject of comparing intake manifolds, I analized a fair amout of data on the subject and published it in May of this year in this thread https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...d.php?t=392089.

You guys are welcome! I am just glad that we can share information so easily through the internet in general and through great web sites like this in specific.

More new info: TurboGibbs GMPP Carb spider vs. L76 (plus gear change) with L92 heads. Note this is an NA comparison.

Worth the read!

Port Only: Cylinder Head on the flow bench, no intake manifold, no adapter.

Rect. Plate: Likely a radiused inlet port adapter that would mimic a very short, bellmouthed intake runner. A typical flowbench tool to normalize entry flow into the port.

You do the same thing by sticking a shorty tube on the exhaust port - flow actually picks up.

Not getting into a fluid dynamics lecture this early in the AM, but sharp corners are bad. Look up 'vena contracta' if you want to know more.

Great data, guys.

Has anybody tried to, more or less, build a 90 degree elbow that puts the throttle body in a relatively stock location?

Thanks,
Bill

... thanks bro... thinking here... Richard at WCCH has/had a few intakes for sale and got me thinking In my case... just about any cube increase would, I am confidently guessing, cancel any minimal negative effects a carb style intake would I MIGHT see after I do my cam homework. I have an LS6 block... debating 346 or 382... with the intention of shopping for stock LS6 heads...
