Which way do the bearing caps go? I'm working with TooTall to rebuild his 6.0. We have a problem assembling the crank and bearings. We put the crank and main bearings together, and the crank would not turn by hand. So, we then started in the middle and added the bearings one by one turning each bearing so that we could spin the crank. Some of the caps are facing one way and some are facing the other. If we put all of the caps the same direction, the crank won't turn. Please check these pictures and tell us if this way will work.

 

I thought when I pulled my 6.0 apart all of the ends were facing the front of the motor if that makes any sense.

 

#3 is backwards. Are you sure you have the right bearings?

 

We are on our second set of bearings. we tried a set of Clevite bearings and they would not turn. These are Federal Mogul and the crank spins real good but the caps are not facing the same direction. We got the Federal Mogul bearings from the shop that bored the block and they assured us that these are the right bearings - but they are closed today.
